Consumer Show
saves £10,000 for Cambridgeshire people
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Radio Cambridgeshire listeners have saved a massive £10,000
in the space of a week, thanks to contacting the radio stationÂ’s
10.00am to 1.00pm consumer programme presented by Gerald Main. The
show encourages listeners to call with their consumer problems,
and Gerald and his team get involved to help find a solution.
In
just one week, the team has helped Cambridgeshire people in the
following ways:
·
A bill for £7,000 from a power company recently landed on
a Peterborough listenerÂ’s doorstep, leaving him stunned. He
made many fruitless calls to the customer service department before
calling ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Cambridgeshire as a last resort. Within a day,
the radio station got the company to rip up the bill.
· A 79-year-old Cambridge woman listener was literally worried
sick when she received a utilities bill for £2,000. Gerald
and his team contacted the company, and her account has now been
put into credit.
· Another St Ives listener was conned over the phone into
buying a holiday to the USA that she didnÂ’t want. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio
Cambridgeshire managed to track down the company and claw back £400.
· An Ely business man was astonished when the airline he
booked with refused to change his booking - ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Cambridgeshire
managed to get £350 back from the company for him.
Presenter
Gerald Main says: "IÂ’ve been presenting radio shows for
over a quarter of a century, but this programme is unlike anything
else IÂ’ve ever done. Everyday weÂ’re making a real difference
to peopleÂ’s lives - and not many radio presenters can honestly
say that! ItÂ’s amazing the difference it can make when we call
a company on a listenerÂ’s behalf."
