Richard Taylor, father of the murdered schoolboy Damilola, talks of forgiveness

In an exclusive interview with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News 24's Hardtalk (Tuesday 14 May, 10.30pm, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News 24) Richard Taylor says he could forgive the killers of his son Damilola.

Asked by Hardtalk's Tim Sebastian what he would say to his son's killers if he ever had the chance to talk to them, he says: "I would pray for them. I would ask them why, if they are able to tell me that and feel remorse, there's nothing wrong in forgiving them, I'd forgive them.

Asked if he had any desire for revenge, Mr Taylor said: "No, the concept of this is not for revenge. It's not revenge that we want, we want them to be positive in life, work towards a better future rather than being destructive in their lives."

Mr Taylor says he does not regret his family coming to Britain: "No, I never felt that way, we all came to studyÂ… we never had the opportunity to obtain (education) in Nigeria at that time."
