 Line-up
changes at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ South East Today
Giles
Dilnot has been announced as the new co-presenter of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ South East
Today, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s local television news service for Kent and Sussex.
He
will be taking over the role from Laurie Mayer who has now left
the programme.
The
programme went "double-headed" earlier this month and
Giles now joins Beverley Thompson as joint presenter of the main
weekday bulletins.
"Giles
has a lively style which has proved really popular with viewers,
particularly at outside broadcasts," says Rod Beards, Editor,
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ South East Today.
"We
think he is going to be a real asset to the programme."
Giles,
31, grew up in Leeds, Kent, where his father was parish rector.
Following
work experience in locations as far flung as Jordan, Syria, Iraq
and Zimbabwe, in 1993 Giles graduated from Jesus College, Cambridge,
to work at Chiltern Radio and at Coventry's Mercia FM radio station.
Reporting,
producing and presenting at the former ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ GLR followed, before
Giles headed south to become drive-time, and occasional breakfast,
presenter for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Southern Counties Radio in Guildford.
He
joined the launch team of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ South East Today last year as a reporter
and presenter. He has most recently been fronting the programme's
late bulletins.
Giles
enjoys reading, eating out and spends a good deal of his free time
travelling. He has a particular passion for the South African Bush
where he has worked in conservation.
"It's
a real privilege to co-present a programme which reflects the issues
of the patch where I grew up," says Giles.
"It's
very exciting and I'm sure Bev and I are going to make a great team."
