Grandstand goes extreme this weekend with a fantastic selection
of sports to offer the viewer
Tomorrow's
Grandstand on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ ONE offers - in addition to Athletics Focus, and
football half-time and full-time scores -
·
Live coverage of the World mountain biking championships from Austria,
presented by Hazel Irvine;
·
Slalom canoeing from Bourg St Maurice in France, presented by Debra
Veal and Paul Ratcliffe;
·
Coverage of the European X-Games in Barcelona, where Europe's best
skateboarders, in-line skaters (roller-bladers) and BMX-ers compete
for an invitation only spot to the World X-Games in the US later
this year.
The
X-Games coverage will be presented by Radio 1 DJ Nemone and semi-pro
skateboarder, Marc Churchill.
The
weekend of 30 August has a limited amount of sport taking place,
despite this being an extremely busy year of sport for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ overall
(World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon, FA Cup and Six Nations,
Heineken Cup, big-time boxing and England football matches to come,
to name but a few).
So
up and coming editor Ron Chakrobaty and his team were given the
chance to do something fresh and innovative with Grandstand.
Grandstand
will revert to its more traditional format next Saturday, although
future coverage of extreme sports is not ruled out.
