Rod Liddle moves on from Today programme

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News has announced that Rod Liddle is moving on from editing the Today programme to work on a pilot for a new programme about politics for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ TWO.

He is also discussing other presenting roles he will take up with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.

Richard Sambrook, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Director of News, said: "I have been talking to Rod for several weeks about a new role in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News.

"We both agreed this is a good time for him to move on from Today.

"Rod is one of our strongest editors and I have great admiration for what he has achieved on the programme over the last five years. Under his editorship, Today has been extraordinarily successful.

"The programme has produced a succession of investigative scoops and listening to the Today programme has increased to its highest levels ever, with seven million tuning in each week.

"In addition the programme has sustained its position at the centre of national political debate and continually demonstrated its impartiality across all issues."

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will be advertising for a new editor in the next couple of weeks.
