ABOUT THE ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR attracts record audiences

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR, British television's boldest new investment in cultural programming for a generation, is celebrating three records as one of the fastest growing digital channels:

- Over the Christmas period ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR achieved a decisive landmark, as its cumulative reach hit 10.4 million people.

This means that 43% of the digital audience have watched the channel since its launch in March 2002.

- The channel's weekly reach has doubled this autumn, from 3.5% in September to 7.3% in the week beginning December 30 2002.

This represents a total reach for that week of 1.8 million people - the channel's most successful week to date.

- Viewing peaked last week at an unprecedented 405,000 with the screening of The Billy Elliot Boy - Omnibus, beating Channel 5 in its slot and all multichannels apart from Sky Moviemax.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR offers a rich mix of intelligent, enriching and diverse programming - from specially commissioned drama and adaptations of plays and music performance, through thought-provoking documentaries to global news and cinema.

All the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s digital services are now available on , the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well as on satellite and cable.

Freeview offers the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s eight television channels, as well as six ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio networks.

The soon to launch ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE will become available as it goes on air.
