FOUR attracts record audiences
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
FOUR, British television's boldest new investment in cultural programming
for a generation, is celebrating three records as one of the fastest
growing digital channels:
- Over
the Christmas period ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR achieved a decisive landmark, as its
cumulative reach hit 10.4 million people.
This
means that 43% of the digital audience have watched the channel
since its launch in March 2002.
- The
channel's weekly reach has doubled this autumn, from 3.5% in September
to 7.3% in the week beginning December 30 2002.
This
represents a total reach for that week of 1.8 million people - the
channel's most successful week to date.
- Viewing
peaked last week at an unprecedented 405,000 with the screening
of The Billy Elliot Boy - Omnibus, beating Channel 5 in its slot
and all multichannels apart from Sky Moviemax.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
FOUR offers a rich mix of intelligent, enriching and diverse programming
- from
specially commissioned drama and adaptations of plays and music
performance, through thought-provoking documentaries to global news
and cinema.
All the
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s digital services are now available on ,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable.
Freeview
offers the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s eight television channels, as well as six ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio
networks.
The
soon to launch ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE will become available as it goes on air.
