ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE announces distinctive News and Current Affairs programmes for the under 35s

Distinctive, challenging and intelligent news and current affairs programmes aimed at the under 35s are high on the agenda for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE, the new digital channel from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, which launches next month.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Five Live's Julian Worricker, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News' Sangita Myska and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Choice's Tazeen Ahmad will present and report for The News Show, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE's 15 minute bulletin, every weekday at 7.45pm.

They join a team of 27 dedicated journalists employed by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE to deliver top national and international news stories, including entertainment and sport, as well as bringing special reports for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE viewers.

The programme will also capture and analyse the day's news agenda across broadcast, online and press outlets.

In addition, 60 Seconds (currently on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ CHOICE) will provide ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE viewers with an up-to-the-minute summary of the latest national and international news on the hour, throughout the evening.

Partying on the frontline in Israel, locking up young offenders and being Prime Minister for a day are among the range of subjects tackled by new current affairs strand The Third Degree.

The series will feature bold and idiosyncratic investigations from a team of outstanding journalists including David Akinsanya (Black Britain, 4x4 Reports), Navdip Dhariwal (ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News, Hard Cash), Raphael Rowe (ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4's Today) and Sangita Myska (ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News).

Richard Sambrook, Head of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News says: "ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE News and Current Affairs represents the final piece in the jigsaw, completing the portfolio of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News services and programmes, and offers an exciting opportunity to provide a different perspective to a currently under-served audience.

"The new output will carry the hallmarks of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News - viewers expect a trustworthy and high quality service - and will be delivered by a talented young team whose journalism has already contributed greatly to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News."

The News Show and The Third Degree begin on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ THREE on Monday 10 February. The first edition of The Third Degree will examine the grubby politics of the trade in conflict diamonds.
