announces new athletics presentation and commentary team for 2003
and 2004
Olympic
legends Michael Johnson, Colin Jackson and Jonathan Edwards
are to join ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport's athletics commentary team for its extensive
coverage of top-class athletics in 2003 and through to the 2004
Olympics in Athens.
Michael
Johnson will join ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport's established team including Steve Cram,
Stuart Storey, Brendan Foster, Paul Dickinson, Sally Gunnell and
Roger Black for the first time at the World Indoor Athletics
Championships in Birmingham, starting on 14 March.
Colin
Jackson and Jonathan Edwards will join the team as the season progresses.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Sport will be following the fortunes of Britain's athletes right
through to the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Between
now and then athletics fans will be able to enjoy major track and
field events including the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix on 21 February
and the World Indoors Athletics Championships from 14 to 16 March.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Sport's coverage of major athletics events continues this summer
with the European Cup from Florence, Italy (21-22 June),
the World Athletics Championships from Paris (23-31 August),
the AAA Trials (27 July) and the British Grand Prix
at Crystal Palace (8 August).
All
the action from the London Marathon on 14 April and the Great
North Run on 21 September will also be captured live on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
ONE.
Former
Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson said: "I'm looking forward
to working with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport at the forthcoming World Indoor Athletics
Championships and other major championships through to the 2004
Olympics.
"It's
an exciting time for British athletics with the likes of Dwain Chambers
and Paula Radcliffe leading the way and I'm delighted to be part
of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ commentary team during the Brits' build up to Athens
next year."
