RADIO NORFOLK

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk - most popular ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio station

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk is officially the most popular ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio station measured by "reach" on mainland England, according to independent figures released today (30 January 2003) by the Radio Joint Audience Research (RAJAR).

For the first time, the radio station has beaten all other ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio stations on mainland England to the top spot, with well over a third (36.7%) of all adults in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk transmission area now tuning in each week.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk have attracted an extra 33,000 listeners over the last year, an increase from 218,000 listeners to 251,000.

David Clayton, Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk, says: "We've been aiming for that top spot for a long time now and everyone at the station is delighted we've done it.

"This is a wonderful result, and a real vote of confidence in our programme teams. The power cuts last year got many listeners to tune in for the first time and they clearly liked what they heard."

Andy Griffee, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Controller, English Regions, adds: "ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio goes from strength to strength. I'm delighted that in an increasingly competitive market, it has again more than held its own.

"Our local radio services are a precious part of how we connect with the communities we serve. We'll forge ahead with plans to maintain and build on this vote of confidence and I congratulate the talented and committed people who run ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Local Radio."
