Poles Apart wins prestigious award

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ WM's Poles Apart - the only ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ local radio programme for Polish people broadcast in the UK - has won a prestigious broadcasting award.

The Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland awarded Poles Apart a Gold Cup for its services to Polish culture and for its support of Polish communities abroad.

Bozena Wilson, presenter of Poles Apart, says: "I'm absolutely delighted to receive such an award.

"It's even more special as it's the first time a British radio programme has been bestowed with such an honour."

Keith Beech, Managing Editor, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ WM, adds: "For Poles Apart to win such an award is a real achievement.

"It recognises the contribution that the programme makes to the Polish community in this area."

Bozena will collect the Gold Cup on behalf of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ WM on 7 May 2003 at Porczynski's Palace in Warsaw.

Poles Apart broadcasts on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ WM every Sunday from 7.00 to 8.00pm on 94.8, 103.7 and 104FM.
