Radio Derby wins prestigious Sony Award
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Radio Derby has struck gold at this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards
- the radio industry's equivalent of the Oscars.
Andy
Whittaker's Breakfast Show was awarded the top accolade in the News
Output category at last night's ceremony in London's Grosvenor Hotel,
for an investigative story about the Jubilee event at Pride Park
last year.
Andy
says: "I'm absolutely shocked and stunned to receive a Gold
Award!
"It's
a fantastic tribute to the team and also to the listeners who take
part and make the programme what it is.
"The
victory is made even sweeter
by the fact that we were up against such stiff competition from
the national radio stations."
Simon
Cornes, Managing Editor, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Derby, adds: "I'm absolutely
delighted that a great team has been rewarded in this way.
"It's
well deserved after so much hard work from everyone - both behind
the scenes and in front of the microphone."
The
Sony Radio Academy Awards acknowledge the very best of UK radio
and are held in great esteem by the industry.
