At
last night's sparkling RTS Sports Awards, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ added six gongs
to its trophy cabinet as the television industry paid tribute to
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport talent both on and off screen across the nation.
Coverage
of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games on both ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ ONE
and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ TWO added the RTS Live Outside Broadcast of the Year Award
to the BAFTA received earlier in the year as the success of the
Manchester Games continues to be recognised across the television
industry.
On
screen ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ presenters were honoured as Gary Lineker took
Sports Presenter of the Year and in Southampton, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ South Today's
Roger Johnson was recognised as Regional Sports Presenter of
the Year.

Scotland's hard hitting Grasping the Thistle picked up Regional
Sports Programme of the Year while the snowy slopes of Kitzbuhel
2002 in Ski Sunday took Sports Series of the Year.

Documentary of the Year went to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ FOUR's The Game of their
Lives charting the fortunes of the North Korean World Cup team
of 1966.

Director of Sport Peter Salmon said: "2002 was a very busy
year for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport and I'm delighted that the efforts of our presentation
and production talent continue to be rewarded."
