FIVE LIVE

Radio Five Live goes the extra 8 Mile as new Eminem-style Premiership trails air

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Five Live's sensational new television trails show Five Live football commentators Alan Green, Jonathan Pearce and Mike Ingham in an unlikely commentary showcase in the style of Eminem in the film 8 mile.

The ad - set in an urban London hip hop club - mimics the style of the Grammy award winning film to a back beat of Eminem's Lose Yourself and 50 Cent's In da Club.

The three commentators are introduced by Master of Ceremonies DJ Spoony and Mikee B of the Dreem Teem before launching into dramatic descriptions of goals to a rapturous crowd.

Arsenal's Sol Campbell and a bare-chested Ashley Cole also appear mixing on the record decks behind the commentators.

Mark "Chappers" Chapman
- famous for his on air banter with Sarah Cox on the Radio 1 breakfast show and, like DJ Spoony, from August a permanent host of the Sunday 606 phone in programme - looks on from the stage.

All the commentaries were taken from real goals covered by Radio Five Live last season and profile the station's award-winning Premiership coverage.

Directed and written by Ron Scapello of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Broadcast, the trails are a tongue-in-cheek comment on the drama and excitement that the Premiership engenders, appealing to sports fans in general and younger fans in particular.

They will air on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ ONE, TWO, THREE and News 24 as well as the Radio Five Live website - - from Saturday (9 August).

The campaign is also supported by ambient media.

Bob Shennan, Controller of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Five Live, said: "These trails capture the excitement and energy of Five Live's Premiership commentary which compare favourably to the excitement of a brilliant night out in a club.

"Radio Five Live is rightly proud of its excellent Premiership coverage and the trails are fun and engaging, showing our commentators displaying their craft and not taking themselves too seriously.

"Everyone had a great time making the trail and we think it looks great."
