TWI
to produce ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport's darts coverage
The
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ announced today that the contract to produce the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s darts
coverage has been awarded to independent production company TWI.
The
initial contract will be for one year, covering the forthcoming
Winmau World Masters (November 2003) and the World Professional
Darts Championships in January 2004.
The
tender for the darts contract was announced earlier this year.
The
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has been reviewing its independent quota as it ensures it meets
the statutory obligation to commission at least 25% of its television
programmes from independent producers.
Barbara
Slater, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Head of General Sports, said: "I'm looking forward
to working closely with TWI to produce the most engaging and entertaining
darts coverage for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.
"It's
a sport with much potential, and I'm confident that TWI will build
on the success of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport's recent coverage."

Fry, TWI Head of Production, said: "TWI is looking forward
to building on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s excellent coverage by introducing entertaining
and compelling new elements to the programming that will appeal
to existing fans and attract new audiences to the sport of darts."
All the
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s digital services are now available on ,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable.
Freeview
offers the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s eight television channels, interactive services
from ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½i, as well as 11 national ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio networks.
