New
editor for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds
 The
new Managing Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds has been appointed.
John
Ryan, previously responsible for marketing the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s regional
TV, local radio and Where I Live website services, will be taking
over the position from Monday 19 January.
Mr
Ryan said: "I am delighted to be returning to Yorkshire where
I began my career with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. I am looking forward to working
with a fantastic team of broadcasters and making some great programmes
for the future."
Born
in Surrey, he began his career with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 1987 as a programme
assistant at Radio York and quickly became presenter of Drivetime.
A year
later, he left to head further north to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Newcastle and
spent three years hosting the Breakfast programme before joining
the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Radio Training Unit as an instructor.
He
spent a further five years with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Lancashire and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Southern
Counties Radio before leaving to launch Canterbury's new commercial
radio station, 106 CTFM.
He
re-joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 1999 when he became Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Northampton.
Colin
Philpott, head of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, said: "John
has extensive experience in radio, including the commercial sector.
That, together with his work in marketing, makes him ideally suited
to running a big city station like Radio Leeds."
