Mark Easton
has been appointed as ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Editor for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News.

Currently the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and Social Affairs Editor at Channel
4 News, Mark succeeds Niall Dickson and will begin at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ on 19
April.

Adrian Van Klaveren, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Head of Newsgathering,
said: "I'm delighted that Mark is returning to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in the vital
role of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Editor.

"He is someone who will be able to explore the
big themes and issues facing the UK with insight, flair and originality.

"His work in both daily news and in current affairs
has shown an exceptional ability to combine context and analysis with
memorable story telling."

Ìý
Mark began his ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ career as a reporter on the South
East magazine programme London Plus in 1986, before moving to Breakfast
News and then on to Newsnight in 1989.
Ìý
He joined ITN in 1996 as Political Editor of Channel
Five News, and moved to Channel 4 three years later.
Ìý
He has made a number of documentaries for Channel 4,
and his work was also included in the entry which won the channel the
Emmy Award for International News in 2003.

Mark is married with four children and lives in London.
