The north Wales town of Rhyl - a town famed for its sea, sand and...
song?
Ìý
This will certainly be true on Friday 29 October as ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Cymru
brings some of Wales' brightest talent to Rhyl Town Hall in what promises
to be a musical night to remember.
Ìý
Dyserth-born Caryl Parry Jones needs no introduction as she returns
to her old stomping ground to headline the evening with her new band,
the Millionaires.
Ìý
Caryl will no doubt enjoy singing again in a part of Wales where she
completed her musical apprenticeship, entertaining audiences with her
co-pupils at Ysgol Glan Clwyd School.
Ìý
Joining Caryl is popular north Wales duo John ac Alun who are bound
to entertain the crowd with their dulcet country tones and witty anecdotes.
Ìý
Local girl Tara Bethan, fresh from filming TV's Footballers' Wives,
is also set to dazzle and thrill as she takes to the stage in her home
patch.
Ìý
Tenor Trebor Edwards will also join the impressive line-up with Ffarmwr
Ffowc adding a bit of spice and laughter to the proceedings.
Ìý
The concert kicks off a season of activity by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Cymru in the
area.
Ìý
The aim is to get more local voices from the north east of Wales on
the service by broadcasting a host of programmes and events in the area.
Ìý
Some of Radio Cymru's best-loved presenters will be broadcasting in
an area reaching from Rhyl to Rhos, from Ruthin to Wrexham.
Ìý
On 29 October Hywel Gwynfryn will be broadcasting his programme from
Corwen, with Jonsi, Owain and Dylan, Sian Thomas, Oedfa'r Bore, Y Talwrn
and many other favourites being recorded and broadcast in the coming
weeks.
Ìý
Also, Radio Cymru's Children in Need concert will be held this year
in Ruthin's Abrose theatre.
Ìý
Tickets for the Rhyl Town Hall concert are £3 (£2 for children and
pensioners) and can be obtained by phoning 01745 330000.
Ìý
The concert is held in conjunction with Denbighshire County Council
Leisure Services.
