The أغر؟´«أ½'s portfolio of digital channels achieved record figures for
the Christmas period concluding a year of significant increases in reach
for أغر؟´«أ½ THREE, أغر؟´«أ½ FOUR, Cأغر؟´«أ½, CBeebies and News 24.
Christmas
In peaktime أغر؟´«أ½ channels accounted for three out of the top five channels
watched in digital homes on Christmas Day.
أغر؟´«أ½ THREE was the most watched digital channel in peak time in multi-channel
homes on Christmas Day.
أغر؟´«أ½ FOUR reached three million individuals over the Christmas week,
an increase of +20% year on year, making it the lead of all factual
channels.
Share was also higher than all competitors over the Christmas week
up +17% on last year.
Cأغر؟´«أ½ became the most popular children's channel on Christmas Day for
the first time with 1.9% share and 3.2% reach, narrowly beating CBeebies
into second place with a 1.6% share and 3% reach.
News 24 was the most watched news channel, reaching 5.2 million people
across the week with share at 0.65%.
2004
أغر؟´«أ½ digital portfolio
The average weekly reach of the أغر؟´«أ½ digital portfolio went up +23% with
10.1 million viewers watching each week - up from 8.2 million in 2003.
Figures improved throughout the year and in autumn reach was up +27%
with some weeks delivering more than 13 million viewers.
أغر؟´«أ½ THREE
Year on year individual reach to أغر؟´«أ½ THREE has increased by 28%.
أغر؟´«أ½ THREE achieved its highest monthly reach to date in November with
16.7 million people watching. This is 50% of all people in digital homes
and 63% of 25-34 year olds in digital homes.
Share has increased by 27% from 1.4% to 1.7% among all individuals in
digital homes year on year.
أغر؟´«أ½ FOUR
أغر؟´«أ½ FOUR's reach has increased by +59% from 1.7 million to 2.7 million
digital viewers each week, putting it well ahead of all other factual
multichannels.
Cأغر؟´«أ½
Year on year, weekly reach amongst digital children to Cأغر؟´«أ½ has increased
by +60% from 0.8 million to 1.3 million - the lead amongst all children's
channels.
This equates to 22% of digital children viewing weekly, on average,
over 2004 to date.
Share has increased by +55% from 3.1% to 4.8% amongst children in digital
homes year on year.
CBeebies
Year on year, weekly reach amongst digital children to CBeebies has
increased by +15% from 1.1 million to 1.3 million digital children,
only just behind the Cأغر؟´«أ½ Channel and well ahead of any of its competitors.
This equates to 21% of digital children viewing weekly, on average,
over 2004 to date.
أغر؟´«أ½ News 24
Due to the coverage of the Iraq war continuous news channels had exceptional
figures in 2003. Therefore this year's figures for أغر؟´«أ½ News 24 have
been compared to those of 2002.
The weekly reach for أغر؟´«أ½ News 24 in multichannel homes 2004 was 3.93
million, an increase of 9.5% from the 3.60 million in 2002, putting
it in the lead for the first time.
أغر؟´«أ½ News 24 also took the lead in monthly reach in multi-channel homes
in 2004 with 8.2 million, an increase of 10% from the 7.4 million in
2002.
