The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ today (Monday 3 May 2005) publishes the findings of the Programme
Complaints Unit (PCU) for the period 1 January to 31 March 2005.
Ìý
Complaints received after 1 February 2005, which will
be dealt with under the terms of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s new complaints procedures,
will be reported separately.
Ìý
In this quarter, the Unit dealt with 146 complaints
concerning 96 items.
Ìý
19 complaints were upheld (12 of them partly) - 13 per
cent of the total.
Ìý
Of the items investigated in the January to March quarter,
complaints were upheld against 14 items - 14.4 per cent of the total.

This is the last bulletin to be published by the former
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Programme Complaints Unit. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s new procedure for handling
complaints, launched on 1 February 2005, is underpinned by an emphasis
on greater transparency, objectivity and accountability.
