Alix Kroeger is joining the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Brussels bureau as a reporter covering the EU institutions.

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World Service newsroom reporter said: "I'm really looking forward to starting in this job at a time of intense debate about the European Union. Everything is up for discussion: its budget, its size, its purpose.

"The next two years will be critical, and it's important that people have as much information as possible about what goes on inside the European Union and its institutions."

She will take up her new position in September.
Ìý
Kroeger was a ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ stringer in Sarajevo for two years
(2000-2002), when she also reported from Serbia and Croatia.
Ìý
She has also reported from Germany, Austria, Romania,
the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Ìý
In 2002 she worked as a regional analyst in the European
Specialist Unit at the World Service.
Ìý
In 2003, she completed a short placement at Germany's
DeutschlandRadio, covering the referendums on EU membership in the Czech
Republic and Slovakia and the drafting of the EU constitution.
