David Jordan, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Chief Adviser, Politics, has been appointed as the corporation's new Controller, Editorial Policy.

David succeeds Stephen Whittle, who retires from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in December.
Ìý
David Jordan started at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 1988, becoming Deputy Editor of Panorama in 1990, followed by his appointment as Editor of flagship political programme On the Record from 1992 to 2003.

David Jordan said: "I look forward to the opportunity of developing Editorial Policy's partnership with programme makers to continue the tradition of robust, creative, cutting edge programmes."

Deputy Director-General Mark Byford added: "David's experience, wisdom and judgement will be key assets in his new role.

"He will be a strong supporter of courage, flair and creativity and he will lead an Editorial Policy team focussed on helping programme makers achieve their aims within a robust editorial framework."

David Jordan will take up his new post on 16 December 2005.
