Richard Deverell, Controller, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Children's, today announced the appointment of Kay
Benbow to the newly created role of Head of CBeebies Production, Animation and Acquisitions.
Ìý
Kay, who is currently Executive Producer, Independents
and Events, will cover all aspects of animation and acquisition for
CBeebies, as well as leading the in-house CBeebies production team
as it meets the creative challenges of the on-demand world.

Kay has 15 years' experience in children's television working on programmes including Bodger
and Badger, Get Your Own Back and Short
Change. She spent two years working with Tell-Tale Productions as a Producer/Director on Tweenies, before returning to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in 2000.

As Executive Producer, CBeebies Production she oversaw
successful in-house shows including the RTS Award-winning Something
Special and Tikkabilla as
well as Novel Entertainment's Roly
Mo Show.

Richard Deverell said: "Kay has an outstanding track record and understanding of the CBeebies age-group. Her experience, coupled with her strong relationships with external partners, means she is the ideal choice for this role.

Kay's appointment follows Michael Carrington's promotion from Head of Children's
Acquisitions and Animation to Creative Director, CBeebies.

of CBeebies Production has accepted a new role working as Creative Consultant
with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide.
Ìý
CÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ acquisitions (including animation acquisitions) will be handled by Jesse
Cleverly, who is promoted from Executive Producer, Drama, to Acting
Head of CÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Drama Co-Productions and Acquisitions reporting to Jon
East, Head
of CÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Drama and Animation.
