New Broadcasting Agreement for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in Guernsey

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Governor Ranjit Sondhi CBE visits Guernsey on Wednesday 4 October to sign a new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Broadcasting Agreement with the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Ìý
The agreement documents the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s provision of broadcasting services in the
Bailiwick and accountability arrangements in the shape of a Listeners' Panel.
Ìý
The
current agreement was signed in 1998 and expires at the end of 2006.
Ìý
The document agrees that ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Guernsey will continue to provide a range
of programmes and services including comprehensive coverage of public meetings of
the States of Deliberation.
Ìý
It describes how the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will work with the States to
provide public service information in the event of an emergency and the work of
the Listeners' Panel whose role will be to advise the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ on content of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
programmes and performance generally.

The press are invited to witness the signing of the agreement at noon at the
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s studios in Bulwer Avenue on Wednesday 4 October 2006.
Ìý
Minister for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Department of the States of Guernsey Mike Torode will sign
the document on behalf of the States of Guernsey.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guernsey has been
broadcasting in the Bailiwick since 16 March 1982.
Ìý
Ranjit Sondhi is the member of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Board of Governors with special
responsibility for the English Regions. The Channel Islands are managed by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
South West.
