Amanda Farnsworth appointed editor of new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ sports news programme

Amanda Farnsworth will be the Editor of the new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ One sports news programme planned to start in 2007. Amanda is currently the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Daytime News Editor, in charge of both the One and Six O'Clock News bulletins on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ One.

Amanda will move to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport to develop and launch the flagship new programme - including the recruitment of the team and setting its editorial ambitions.

Roger Mosey, Director of Sport, said: "Amanda is a first-class journalist and she also knows her sport. Her appointment shows the importance the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ attaches to sport journalism, and we're looking forward to Amanda and her team launching our new flagship programme in 2007."

Amanda joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ as a news trainee in 1986, working in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio and television newsrooms, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Wales and the Business Unit.

Between then and 2000, Amanda was an assistant producer on Panorama, a producer on Newsnight, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Bureau Producer in Washington DC, launch Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News 24, Editor of News 24's daily Breakfast News and Deputy Editor of Newsnight.

In 2000, Amanda was appointed Planning Editor across all ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ One bulletins and News 24, then became launch Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Four news; and in 2004 became the Editor of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ One's Six O'Clock News. Ìý

Amanda was born in 1963 and educated at St Paul's Girls' School in London and the London School of Economics, where she gained a first class degree in International History.
