ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic debates with audiences in Jordan, Kuwait and Sudan

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic continues to use its multi-media platforms to engage audiences in
conversations across the Middle East and North Africa with a series of debates
discussing issues important to people's lives in Jordan, Kuwait and Sudan.
Ìý
As part of a season of programmes exploring workers' rights, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic will
broadcast live from Kuwait on Wednesday 15 November 2006 and from Jordan on Wednesday 29
November at 1500 GMT.
Ìý
TheÌýprogrammes involve studioÌýaudiences as well as ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Arabic listeners who will call in from around the world.
Ìý
They will focus on
issues around migrant and domestic workers and the events will be broadcast on
national television in Kuwait and Jordan.ÌýÌý
Ìý
The service's website, bbcarabic.com, will feature video diaries taking an inside
look at the lives of migrant and domestic workers.
Ìý
The debates are part of a
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World Service Trust initiative which isÌýsupported, in part,Ìýby
the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Ìý
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic will also meet with audiences in Sudan with its Sudan: Voices And
Views From Within roadshow.
Ìý
The roadshow features three main topics - the
education of women, migration from the countryside to the city and development
and unemployment.
Ìý
The first debate takes place in Khartoum on Monday 4
December before moving to Wad Medani on Wednesday 6 December and then Port
Sudan on Saturday 9 December.
Ìý
The debates will broadcast through ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic
flagship programmes Talking Point and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Extra.
Ìý
Arabic speakers across the
world will have access to a wide range of in-depth video and audio features
exploring the issues.
Ìý
The debates follow ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Arabic's successful five-week Your Future. Who Decides
It? interactive roadshow which met 270,000 young people in Egypt, Jordan,
Sudan, West Bank and Syria earlier this year.
