Alun Shurmer to join ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales as Head of Communications

Alun Shurmer has been appointed Head of Communications for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales.

For the past 15 months Alun has managed Plaid Cymru's communications team and previously worked at Transport for London, leading the communications strategy for the Congestion Charge Scheme.

He will join ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales in August.

Speaking of his appointment Alun, 29, who is originally from Rhymney, said: "ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales makes a vital contribution to the lives of people in Wales.

"The prospect of being part of the team at such an interesting and challenging time for broadcasters is a great privilege and I look forward to developing the role and to making a significant contribution to the corporation."

Alun's first class experience of communications includes being Communications Manager for London's Congestion Charging Scheme at Transport for London as well as being a member of the media relations team that dealt with the London bombings in 2005.

As Head of Communications for Plaid Cymru, Alun played a central role in the election campaign and was responsible for the party's communications strategy.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales Head of Marketing, Communications and Audiences, Rhodri Talfan Davies, added: "Alun has considerable experience in the strategic communications field and will be a great asset to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cymru Wales."
