Bloc Party join the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Electric Proms 2007

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has confirmed that Bloc Party will perform at this year's ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Electric Proms. The band will be playing at Camden's world famous Roundhouse on Saturday 27 October, the penultimate night of the five-day festival.

Other artists already confirmed to perform include Mark Ronson, Paul McCartney, Kaiser Chiefs, Ray Davies and Siouxsie Sioux.

Bloc Party have grown to become one of the UK's hottest acts, gaining recognition around the world. Now, fresh from a tour of the UK and US, they join a packed Electric Proms line-up to perform on the legendary Roundhouse stage. They will be supported by Mercury nominees, Maps.

Elsewhere at the festival, Editors will be supported by American "math rock" band Battles, while Breed 77 and Amplifier will perform at the Barfly on Saturday 27 October.

Other artists announced include Johnny Borrell, who will be creating an unique collaboration with Ray Davies on the festival's closing night at the Roundhouse, RnB star Craig David, who will be joining Kano on stage, while Durrty Goodz and Taio will perform at the Jazz Café.

Festival Director Lorna Clarke said: "We're delighted to add these exciting acts to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Electric Proms line-up. They will all bring something unique and special to this year's event."

Tickets will go on sale for Bloc Party from noon on Wednesday 3 October 2007.

- ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Electric Proms is a five-day festival featuring music and film taking place in Camden, London.
- Venues include The Roundhouse, The Barfly, KOKO, The Electric Ballroom, The Jazz Café, Dingwalls and Cecil Sharp House.
- Last year over 250,000 people visited the Electric Proms website with over 850,000 requests to watch performances.
- Electric Proms will be broadcast across ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 1, 2, 3, 1Xtra, 6 Music, the Asian Network and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World Service.
