The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has confirmed that it is to move to new, state-of-the-art, digital broadcasting premises at Sutton Harbour in Plymouth, putting it at the heart of the city's maritime heritage.

Building work is due to commence in 2008, and it is anticipated that the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will move into the new premises and begin broadcasting by late 2010.

Ìý

John Lilley, Head of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s South West region, said: "This move will place our journalists and programme-makers closer to our audience and provide us with accessible facilities fit for the digital future.

Ìý

"It's an exciting time for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in the South West and demonstrates the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s commitment to developing and maintaining the strength of its local and regional broadcasting."

Ìý

Chris Kane, Head of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Workplace, said: "The new development at Sutton Harbour is part of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s wider commitment to provide modern, flexible, open buildings for the digital age, situated in the heart of the communities we serve."

Ìý

Nigel Godefroy, Managing Director of the Sutton Harbour Group, said: "This is the latest stage in our comprehensive regeneration of Sutton Harbour which has already seen £60million of investment in just five years. This new scheme will make maximum use of the site and we're delighted to have attracted such a prestigious occupier as the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ to the city's waterfront."

Ìý

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ fit-out works will be designed by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s framework architects BDP Ltd.
