ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ extends competition deadline for entrepreneurs

Young Swahili-speaking entrepreneurs across Africa now have until
Friday 23 May to enter the popular Faidika na ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ (Prosper with
the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½) competition.
Ìý
This gives young business-minded people aged 16 to 24
an extra week to submit their proposal on how they can
start a successful business that has a positive impact on their
community, using US $5,000.
Ìý
The proposal should be no longer than 1,500 words. Tips on how
to write it can be heard on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Swahili's news and current
affairs programme, Dira Ya Dunia, and are available online at
bbcswahili.com.

Salim Kikeke, Faidika na ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Project Manager said: "People told
us they needed more time to work on what could potentially be a
life-changing business plan. That is why we decided to extend
the closing date by one week."

Regional heats will take place in Burundi on Monday 2 June;

Wednesday 4 June; Kenya on Thursday 5 June and Uganda on Friday 6
June.

The six winners from the regional heats will then battle
for the top prize at a grand final to take place in Uganda on
Wednesday 18 June.

The final will be broadcast live on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
Swahili radio and online, via bbcswahili.com.
