Matthew Postgate appointed Controller of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Research & Innovation

Erik Huggers, Director of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Future Media and Technology, has today announced that Matthew Postgate has been appointed the Controller of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Research & Innovation.

In his new role, Matthew will be responsible for shaping and leading all research and innovation activities to ensure value is delivered to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, wider industry and academia.
Ìý
Creating and delivering a long-term strategy to cover the next Charter period which is focused on delivering a Digital Broadband Britain, and developing and sustaining long-term relationships with external research institutes and universities.

In the short term Matthew will oversee the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Mobile Team, which he has been Controller of since May 2007, until his successor is appointed.

Erik Huggers said: "As all the PSBs prepare to tackle the technological complexity of the digital age, it is critical that we ensure research and innovation is at the heart of what we do.

During his time as Controller of Mobile, Matthew has been responsible for the relaunch of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Mobile and the roll-out of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ iPlayer on the iPhone and iTouch as well the first download version of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ iPlayer on the Nokia N96.
