Santa in Disguise by Kate Coulter
Read by Ian McElhinney.
It was Boxing Day and Santa had just finished delivering everyone’s presents. He wanted to go away for the summer so he looked on the internet to find somewhere to stay. He found a little village beside a lough called Kircubbin. It was just what he was looking for!
Santa decided he would go in disguise and leave his big red suit, black belt, pom-pom hat and black boots at home. He thought he would be clever and dress-up as a farmer so no one would recognise him. He got a pair of braces, a wee flat cap, a pair of wellies, checked shirt and some dungarees.
Months later the day finally came. Santa set off and finally came to Kircubbin.
It looked lovely he thought. Santa bought himself a Massey 65 tractor as he loved the colour red. He couldn’t wait to go on his first tractor run! He had read so much about them in the local paper. Santa put a huge red pom-pom on the front of his 65 as it reminded him of Rudolph.
On the run Santa brought his whip and he was shouting, “Ho Ho ho, come on Rudolph!” The farmers around him started to get quite suspicious that it was Santa, because of what they’d just heard.
That night Santa had a ball! After, there were burgers and minerals, but Santa asked if there was any milk and cookies. Everyone became really suspicious. The farmers talked to each other and narrowed it down and shouted, “We know it’s you Santa!” Santa had to get out of there and fast. So he did a magic whistle and immediately all the reindeer appeared.
Kaboom!
Santa was never to be seen again in Kircubbin.

Tommy T.Rex Saves Santa by Tom Cranston
Read by Shane Todd. Illustration by Holly Sherrard.
Tommy the T.Rex is a dinosaur that loves eating people and pooping a lot. When he’s really angry he can shoot lasers from his eyes. BUZZZZ. He gets sad sometimes when the bigger T.Rexs call him names and make him cry. MWAAAH.
You see Tommy isn’t like everyone else, he loves to dance and tell jokes. But something else you might not know about Tommy, is that his arms are just that little bit longer than everyone else’s.
The bigger T.Rexs don’t like this at all, they are very tall with very massive muscles and aren’t nice. They always call him “Poopoo Head!”
One day Tommy was using his awesome laser eyes to melt things….BUZZZZZ when he heard a noise, “Ho ho… Oh No!”
Santa T.Rex had dropped his special sleigh keys and now can’t get home. Dinosaur elves were going crazy everywhere. “Aaaah Aaaah!” When Tommy walked over he could see Santa trying with all his might to reach something under the huge sleigh which full of suitcases.
They were on their way home from holidaying in Portrush and had stopped in Saintfield for the world’s best pizza, with ALL the toppings.
Tommy used his long arms to reach the sleigh keys. He thought everyone would laugh at him, but when he reached the keys Santa was soo thankful. They didn’t care. They all gave him a big hug and asked if he wanted to stay and have some yummy pizza with them. It was amazing and they loved his jokes!
On Christmas Eve night while Tommy was sleeping, Santa put a gift in his stocking. Tommy now has super cool gloves that keep his long arms warm, the other T.Rexs were soo amazed at the present and couldn’t wait to be Tommy’s friend now.

Don't Be Afraid, You're Not Alone by James Smyth
Read by Ryan McParland. Illustration by Megan Rafferty.
A long time ago there was a little boy called Tom. He went to The Christmas Shop in New York City and straight to aisle 10, the snow globe aisle, to get a new snow globe. The boy wished he had a buddy. He was sad because people at school laughed at him and this broke his heart. Tom found the snow globe he was looking for. He called it buddy.
Tom was looking inside the snow globe. He asked his Mum if she would buy it. His mum bought the snow globe and they went home.
That night, Tom was in bed looking at his new snow globe. He wished he was inside playing in the snow with the gingerbread men. He drifted off to sleep.
Tom suddenly woke up. Two gingerbread men were standing beside him. They asked him why he was so sad. Tom explained that he had no friends. We are your friends, whispered the gingerbread men. Try to be nice and kind to people. Help other class mates out when they are in trouble. Don’t sit on your own at lunch.
Tom realised that maybe he was too shy and quiet and the other children were afraid to talk to him. He was getting tired again. He lay down in the snow and fell asleep.
The next morning, Tom woke up and got ready for school. As he was walking, he remembered what the gingerbread men had told him. At school, Tom said hello to everyone and sat beside other people at lunch. A little girl called Ginger asked Tom if he wanted to go out and play. Tom couldn’t believe it. Their advice had worked! Off Tom went with Ginger. He was the happiest little boy in the playground.

North Pole's Got Talent by Evie Stronge
Read by Kerri Quinn. Illustration by Kit Rees.
It was a cold snowy evening in the North Pole and all the elves were practising for the annual talent show.
Blitz Blast could make 100 perfect shaped snow balls at lightning speed, Eve Frost could turn things into ice, and Figgy Roll could eat the most fig rolls in the whole of the North Pole. Buddy Tinsel was just fabulous….well, that’s what he thought.
It was the evening of the show and everyone was so excited. The three judges took their places. There was Amanda Golden, Simon Claus and David Snow-Ballions.
Just as the talent show was about to start, the wise old elf came dashing in with some terrible news. Jack Frost was on his way!
Reindeer Radar had spotted his plane approaching at full speed toward the North Pole. Everyone panicked. Jack Frost hated elves having fun.
The show contestants decided to team up and use their talents to save the day. The elves took up their positions on the runway.
Blitz Blast threw as many snow balls as he could and Eve Frost froze the runway to make it as slippery as possible. Then Figgy Roll slid quickly to the end of the runway and……BOING! Jack Frost bounced right onto Figgy Rolls tummy and then disappeared out of sight!
As for Buddy Tinsel, he was completely useless, but he was also absolutely fabulous the whole time.

Jack Frost Saves Christmas by Jonah Shields
Read by Ryan McParland. Illustration by Matthew Robins.
Jack Frost is an elfish man. He lives underground in his icy cave on the Copelands Island just off the coast of Donaghadee.
Jack loves winter time. It’s his busiest time of the year as he travels across Northern Ireland making snow-capped hills, snowmen in children’s gardens and ice-rinks for skating on. He uses many wonderful tiny tools to carry out his work.
But this year, Barra Best was predicting the mildest winter in history. That’s because Jack Frost had a more important job to do!
On Christmas Eve an elf came to visit Jack. “Santa Claus has a problem” said the Elf “His sleigh has broken down in Dublin. We can’t fix it and we need you to help him deliver the presents to all of the little boys and girls in Northern Ireland”
“No probs” said Jack Frost “I’ll do anything to help save Christmas”
So Jack set to work on his best machine. It’s called the Snow Blaster and he uses it to spread frost across big areas. Worn on his back like a backpack with a strap around his waist, it has a hose-like pipe with a big mouth to shoot out ice. It only needed a few adjustments to be turned into the Present Blaster!
As Jack worked, the news came onto ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Ulster with reports the Santa Tracker had stopped in Dublin and had not come further north. Parents were very worried. This made Jack move quickly as he told the elves to load up the presents.
He set off zooming through the air with his tiny wings and blasted the town of Donaghadee first…… it worked! He went to all the towns and villages across the country blasting presents down chimneys. Luckily fires were not lit as temperatures were unusually high!
And just in time, Jack Frost saved Christmas!
