About

1. The promoter of the competition is the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. The competition will be running across ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Wales between 0900-1200 Monday to Friday for two consecutive weeks from 6th – 17th October 2025 (except when editorial requirements lead to a change in schedule or a change in programme content). After this initial period, the competition may continue to run daily Monday to Friday, weekly or as a one-off, the frequency will be announced clearly on air by the presenter.


Eligibility
2. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, except ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ or ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Group employees, or their immediate family and anyone connected with the competition or the prize. Entrants must be aged 18 or over. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ reserves the right to check eligibility.

3. The competition will be played during regular episodes of the midmorning show hosted by Bronwen Lewis or Lucy Owen (except when editorial requirements lead to a change in schedule or a change in programme content).


How to enter
4. The presenter will announce the time at which listeners can register to take part within a ten minute window by calling 03700 100 110. Standard geographic charges from landlines and mobiles apply. Every caller who gets through will have their name, location and contact number taken. Entrants will also be asked to confirm they are over the age of 18. When lines close, an entrant will be selected using an independent randomised draw system and contacted by telephone off-air. If the entrant does not pick up the phone after reasonable attempts the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will contact the next eligible randomly selected entrant.

5. Entry is only open during the times announced on-air. Entries received outside these times will not be registered. The opening and closing times may change so please listen to announcements during the programme.

6. You may only enter once per day during the entry window announced on-air; any additional entries will not be counted.

7. Eligible entrants who make it to air and win a prize cannot take part for one month.

8. Eligible entrants who get to air but do not win a prize cannot do so again for two weeks.

9. The phone number from which the phone entry is made in the registration process must be the entrant’s phone. The entrant must be entering on their own behalf. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who did not register using their own phone or on their own behalf. This may mean that another entrant from all the entries is chosen.

Competition details
10. Once on-air, the entrant will be asked 5 questions in quick succession. The answers to questions will begin with the letters S, M, A, R, T in that order.

11. The entrant needs to get all 5 questions correct within 30 seconds to win the prize.

12. If the entrant gets a question wrong, they are out of the game and do not win the prize.

13. There will only be one entrant to play the game per show. If they are not successful the prize is not won that day and there is no rollover. The presenter will inform the audience of the next chance to win (if applicable).


Prize
14. The prize is a Smart Speaker as described on-air. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances.

15. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes.

16. The winner cannot copy or distribute the prize or copies of it. Any programme names, branding or logos on or associated with the prize cannot be used or reproduced by the winner in any way. The winner shall not do anything with the prize that might bring the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ in to disrepute.

17. Please allow up to 28 days for delivery from the dispatch date. While the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will make reasonable efforts to ensure timely delivery, delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ shall not be held liable for any delays.

18. For the avoidance of doubt the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ shall not be responsible for any other fee, expense or cost.


General
19. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ reserves the right to prevent putting an entrant on-air or take any entrant off-air and disqualify them from the competition at any time if they display offensive, abusive or any other kind of behaviour unsuitable for broadcast.

20. Entrants must agree to take part in any post-competition publicity, if required.

21. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s decision as to prizes awarded is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

22. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ reserves the right to: (i) amend these terms and conditions including, but not limited to, the competition opening and closing times; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or has brought (in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s sole discretion) the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ into disrepute; (iii) cancel the competition, at any stage, if in its opinion it is deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside its control.

23. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction, nor for any other problem which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered.

24. To the extent permitted by law, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.

25. This competition accords with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Code of Conduct for Competitions and Voting.

26. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when registering.

27. The competition is run by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. The applicable law is that of England and Wales.

Telephony Radio Competitions Privacy Notice

Your trust is very important to us. This means the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such personal data. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

Audiences are at the heart of everything we do at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. We actively engage and ask our audience to take part and contribute in a variety of ways, including via telephony competitions.

Information on how to take part will be explained on-air or online including the specific competition rules that apply.

If you appear on-air, this may include the programme being available online and/or on demand, and your contribution may be used again in a future broadcast.

We may use your on-air appearance (if applicable) for promotional purposes on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s social media sites.

What personal data will the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ collect and how will we use it?

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will collect and process your personal data for the purposes of administering the telephony competition; keeping a record of winners for compliance and auditing purposes; to create broadcast content; and to provide the winner with their prize.

Personal data

Depending on the nature of the competition, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ may collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Your age, or confirmation you are old enough to take part
  • A broadcast recording of your voice
  • Your opinions, answers to our questions and biographical information you may wish to share

We may also collect your email address or postal address if you are a winner so that we can send you your prize.

Who is the Data Controller?

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ is the "data controller" of your personal data. This means that the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The lawful basis on which the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates and entertains.

We also have a legal obligation to process the personal data of the winners to comply with relevant competition regulations.

Sharing your personal data

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and not independently of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. For telephony competitions we use a third-party telephony platform.

We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data
Personal data stored on the telephone platform, such as contact telephone number and any call recordings will be kept for up to one (1) year then deleted.

Other personal data from unsuccessful entrants will be retained in the following way. Those that register and are not shortlisted – personal data will be deleted daily. Those that are brought to air but do not win – personal data will be deleted win (2) weeks after the entrant entered.

We keep records of winners and runners-up for two (2) years for auditing and compliance purposes.

If you appear on a broadcast, the programme will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA).

Your rights and more information

You have rights under data protection law:

  • You can request a copy of the personal data the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ stores about you.
  • You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
  • You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted, however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ to refuse your request.
  • In certain circumstances you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to the processing of your personal data.
  • You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.

We will revise the privacy notice if there are significant changes to how we use your personal data.
