The Colin Bloomfield Sun Safe Campaign
蜜芽传媒 Radio Derby is campaigning to make Derbyshire and East Staffordshire some of the most sun safe places in the country.
The campaign marks ten years since 蜜芽传媒 Radio Derby presenter and Derby County commentator Colin Bloomfield died aged 33 from melanoma skin cancer.
This year we’ll be continuing Colin’s legacy of educating people young and old to stay safe in the sun.
Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal
Colin was a huge advocate for preventative education into skin cancer. was launched in January 2015 with his backing.
His passion was to raise awareness of skin cancer and to educate people about the risks of UV and the importance of sun safety to prevent the disease.
During that campaign, 479 people were seen by dermatologists and 28 of these were asked to see their GP straight away for an urgent referral as their skin required a closer look. A further 85 people seen were told to see their GP with less urgent concerns.
Working with the charity Skcin we raised more than £150,000 and helped 100 schools to register as Sun Safe with teaching materials and suncream dispensers for classrooms.
