Watchdog discovered people selling prescription-only products on online marketplace, Vinted.
Watchdog was able to buy three HRT items from three separate sellers on Vinted. All three are prescription-only drugs; which is in breach of the company’s own terms and conditions and also breaking the law.
When we asked Vinted why prescription-only medicines were listed on its site, it told us that member safety is its top priority, and its teams work continuously to maintain a secure and smooth trading experience on Vinted. It said that prescription medicines are strictly prohibited, and it removes any listings that violate this rule as soon as it becomes aware of them. It acknowledged that many of the items flagged in our report clearly breached its policies, and said it has taken action to remove them. It said that it regrets that its moderation team did not properly intervene in the specific case we highlighted, and it has since strengthened its processes to help prevent these specific products being listed in future.
