The 2025 Countryfile Photographic Competition

Can you capture ’Wild Encounters'?

Update: The 2025 Countryfile Photographic Competition is now closed for new entries.

.....

This year’s theme is ‘Wild Encounters’ and you don’t have to venture far to capture the magic of a wild moment. Whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter your photograph might capture the bigger picture with an amazing natural landscapes – or perhaps you're focused on the creatures that live within it. Or maybe you’re keen on our wild flora looking glorious in all weathers. Wherever you are; the city, the countryside, farmland or valleys we want to see your interpretation of ‘Wild Encounters’.

As long as your photographs capture the essence of 'Wild Encounters’ then you’re in with a chance. The best twelve photographs will then make up the Countryfile Calendar for 2025. A minimum of £5.50 from the sale of each calendar will benefit ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Children in Need (charity number 802052 in England & Wales and SC039557 in Scotland).

John Craven will be chairing the judging panel and will be joined by Hamza Yassin and a guest celebrity judge. Together they’ll choose their favourite 12 photographs before we let you decide which of them is the overall winner.
But first we need your photos!

How to enter the competition:

We are only accepting online entries and they need to be in landscape format. You can enter by uploading your digital photos and filling out the online entry form on our website. There’s a maximum of three photos per person which you need to submit separately. We can only accept photos in JPEG, PNG or GIFF format and recommend file sizes up to 10MB. Please keep copies of your original files if they are bigger than this, as we may need them later on if you are successful. You can upload your photos here.

Entries will be accepted from 4.25pm on Sunday 29th June 2025 until 10am on Monday 28th July 2025.

Please ensure you read the full Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice before entering.

The theme ‘Wild Encounters’ is open to the interpretation of the photographer. But entries should feature landscape photographs of the United Kingdom, or wild or farm animals, in a natural setting. Pictures of pets are not eligible for the competition - nor are zoo animals. Images of UK wildlife in captivity are also ineligible. Please take your photos responsibly, avoid disturbing wildlife and always follow the Countryside Code.

The competition will have one overall winner voted for by Countryfile viewers. Not only will their picture take pride of place on the cover of the calendar, they’ll also get a gift card to the value of £1,000 which can be spent on photographic equipment at a number of outlets. The person who takes the judges’ favourite photo will get a gift card to the value of £500, which can also be spent on photographic equipment at a number of outlets.

The competition isn’t open to professionals and, because we want something original, entries must not have won other national or international competitions. Each entrant can send in up to three photos, which must be taken in the UK. This year we can only accept photographs uploaded to our website.
