Sun, sea, sand and NO sex! The hilarious viral tweet of 8 rules one mum wants her teenage son to follow on his first pals’ holiday
5 July 2019
The first holiday with friends is a rite of passage. But whether it’s a trip to San Antonio or Skegness, one thing is guaranteed: your mum is going to worry!
Don’t get a tattoo!Concerned mum Lisa
Dunfermline lad Finlay Brockie found this out whilst preparing for a boys’ holiday to Magaluf. His mum’s list of rules he should follow quickly went viral after they were shared on social media.
Lisa’s hilarious – yet solid – advice ranged from ‘Don’t get a tattoo’ to ‘Don’t phone me for a chat when u r drunk’.
Of course parents don’t want to spoil their children’s fun, but how do you approach giving out helpful advice without becoming a killjoy?

First holidays without mum and dad
What advice should parents give their teens before their first holiday with friends?
Speaking on Mornings with Kaye Adams, travel safety expert Lloyd Figgins suggested parents should be pragmatic.
“Young people are always going to do what young people are going to do,” he said.
“But if we can explain why they shouldn’t be doing some things or taking certain precautions, I think we’re going to get a much better result than putting in a set of rules that they’ve got to stick to, which we know they won’t.”
