ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Young Composer Winners: The Process and Music
The Process
Discover the music and process for brand-new commissions written by a hugely exciting group of young composers: the most recent winners of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Young Composer competition.

Over the past last year these young creatives have written their pieces and workshopped them with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra, and been mentored throughout the process by two esteemed British composers: Gavin Higgins and Helen Grime.
The composers’ brief was to write a work inspired by Luke Jerram’s artwork Gaia, a huge replica of the Earth hanging in the atrium of UCL East’s Marshgate building. The young composers also met with scientists and listened to soundscapes from the WWF-funded Biome Health Project, a biodiversity intiative led by academics at UCL’s People & Nature Lab.
