A group of middle-aged women grumble about various aspects of modern life.
When you were young life was a doddle, you didn't worry about anything much. Now you could worry for a living. And then you could worry some more. Take fairgrounds, when you fancied boys and liked the Bay City Rollers. Fairs were seriously scary, but you liked scary. Scary was good. Now you can't even do the dodgems, you're convinced it'll turn into a major disaster. Because now you are a grumpy old woman you see the danger in everything, which makes you anxious from morning to night. No wonder you're grumpy.
The female grumpies are Sheila Hancock, Jenny Éclair, Stephanie Beacham, Muriel Gray, Arabella Weir, Jenni Trent-Hughes, Pam St Clements, Kim and Aggie, Michele Hanson, Indira Joshi, Annette Crosbie, Kathryn Flett, Jane Moore, Germaine Greer, Linda Robson, Dillie Keane and Helen Lederer.
