Documentary chronicling the ongoing struggle of Tom Hart Dyke and his parents Guy and Sarah, as they attempt to secure the future of their 700-year-old family home.
Return to Lullingstone Castle chronicles the ongoing struggle of Tom Hart Dyke and his parents Guy and Sarah, as they attempt to secure the future of their 700-year-old family home.
It’s Autumn 2005, and the World Garden’s first season open to the public is drawing to a close. After a fantastically successful summer the Hart Dyke family is exhausted, but they have to double the visitor numbers next year in order to service a 150,000 pounds bank loan they’ve taken out to build the garden in the first place. Undaunted, Tom embarks upon the mammoth task of transferring tender plants from the garden to the greenhouse for the winter. With space at a premium Tom plans to do up an old Victorian greenhouse erected in the time of his grandfather, Sir William Hart Dyke. Meanwhile the Hart Dyke’s neighbour, Trevor Edwards, is planning to sell up. Which means he has to strike a deal with the family over the part of the world garden he owns; and negotiations aren’t running smoothly.
