Non-smoker Denis Sutton is admitted with a cancerous tumour taking up almost half of one lung, and on the children's ward ten-week-old Kyle is seriously ill. He is tested for meningitis, and his parents face an agonising 24-hour wait to see if their worst fears are realised.
