Mind the Gap
Programme examining topical issues in Wales. The team investigate whether a new contract for NHS dentists is leaving Welsh patients paying the cost.
NHS dentistry is being set back 30 years, and patients can expect to have more teeth taken out rather than fixed. That's the claim of many dentists investigated by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Wales' current affairs programme Week in Week Out.
Dentists blame the new contract the government has introduced. It was supposed to ensure we could all have access to good quality dental treatment at a high street NHS dentist. In reality, 'Week In Week Out' discovered some patients are already finding that more expensive work is only available privately - work the Government says should still be available on the NHS.
