Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has talked of turning Chile's hate into love. Gavin Esler asks her if this is realistic.
Gavin Esler interviews Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile.
'A woman, a socialist, separated, agnostic - all the sins together'. So President Michelle Bachelet describes herself, the first woman to be elected President of a Latin America country on her own account - she is not married to a famous husband. She breaks many moulds, being herself tortured under the Pinochet regime and being the daughter of a man who died in one of Pinochet's prisons. Yet she has talked of turning Chile's hate into love. Gavin Esler asks her if this is realistic.
