Comedy series chronicling eternally-single Alice's quest for the perfect partner. Alice seems to be comfortably bedding in with out-of-work writer Douglas McVitie, in every sense of the word. But sleeping with someone is one thing - is she emotionally ready for the pair to share an answering machine message?

Despite some pre-prandial wobbles, the meal with his ex-girlfriend Kendra seems to go without a hitch. Now a successful cartoonist and animator, she reveals she is putting together a TV series called Lobotomy Bay, a satirical dissection of the meatheads, morons and general dysfunctionals of 21st century Britain.

Even more promisingly, the couple come away with an invitation to a dinner party at Kendra's grand south London home, which she shares with her high-flying producer husband - and the word is he could be about to throw a new writing assignment Douglas's way. But disappointments, despair and horror are, as ever, just around the corner.
