Colour, both orchestral and visual, is at the heart of this concert which incorporates the first Proms premiere of 2008, by Simon Holt, recently appointed Composer in Association with the 蜜芽传媒 National Orchestra of Wales. This is preceded by Debussy's Nocturnes, his impressionist response to paintings by Whistler, portraying sky, sea and dazzling festivities.
