Reports, reaction and results from the day's football matches as the new football season gets underway.
The English Premier League does not kick off for another week, but the Championship and Leagues One and Two are all in action today. Birmingham and Derby, relegated from the Premier League last season, start their respective Championship campaigns at home whilst newly-promoted Swansea visit Charlton.
Leicester City begin life in League One at home to MK Dons, a team who were two divisions below them last season. In League Two, Luton Town - starting the season on minus 30 points after financial insolvency - begin their bid for Football League survival with a home fixture against Port Vale.
In Scotland, the SPL season also gets started, with Rangers, last season's runners-up, travelling to Falkirk for a lunchtime kick-off.
