A look at a young emperor penguin called Peter, who lives out on the ice in Antarctica, the coldest place on earth. We follow him as he grows up, showing how he keeps warm with the help of his parents and by forming a huddle with the other chicks in the local penguin creche. We also go back in time to see how his parents got him there in the first place and how they cope with finding food.
