Breaking the Rules - Fashion Rebel Look

Episode 3 of 5

Exploring the 'fashion rebel' look and the story of the industry's great mavericks, from Vivienne Westwood to John Galliano.

The series exploring what makes British fashion and style distinctive continues with the 'fashion rebel' look and the story of the industry's great mavericks, from Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano through to Alexander McQueen.

These outsider designers tore up the style rule book in the creative outpouring that followed punk, licensing the rest of us to wear exactly what we want and become fashion rebels. But we also see how they went on to redefine high fashion on the hallowed catwalks of Paris and Milan. At her studio, Vivienne Westwood revisits the inspiration behind her early collections, as well as revealing the controversial ideas and innovative cutting techniques that continue to electrify the fashion world. Backstage at his latest Paris catwalk show, we meet John Galliano, who talks us through his new collection and in London, the 'enfant terrible' of fashion Alexander McQueen explains why he uses shock tactics in his spectacular catwalk shows.
