Adaptation of Jules Verne's classic science fiction fantasy novel. America, 1867. Seeking to prove himself, Pierre Arronax agrees to hunt the mysterious 'monster' that has troubled shipping world wide. However the encounter is disastrous, leaving Pierre and two companions captives of an enigmatic genius whose motives and mission they cannot fathom. So begins a battle of wills that will have deadly consequences.
