It's crunch time, and the four guys and four girls from the UK find out which group they'll be in for the rest of the summer after their previous time trial swims. There's a surprise when more than the two favourites make the top group, and disappointment for at least one that didn't make the grade.
They all soon realise that the intermediate A1s have a much easier time in training than the elite Cadets - this is not lost on one member of the group who manages to wriggle out of training for the day.
Sean and Joe's attention quickly moves from training and on to team mate Lexie, a Californian girl on the course. But when the UK guys go surfing in the evening, it seems that Georgie now has Joe's attention.
In the evening, the guys are invited to a beach bonfire, and get to know some of their San Diego neighbours and experience their first SoCal party.
Struck by her lack of sea knowledge and constant questioning, Jack and Tommy joke at Emma's expense during training, before the guys finish off their week with a BBQ at the family home of their new Californian friend Andee.
As their first week comes to an end, have two of the group started to become more than just friends?
