Byron Rogers continues his search for heroes in an unlikely place: somewhere Hollywood dreams end. Read by Crawford Logan.

The Beverly Hills Tours show visits the homes of the stars: "old style Hollywood".

They don't visit "one of the saddest places on earth" – the switchboard at Central Casting, which every afternoon lights up with the calls of extras looking for work.

Some stars started their careers as extras, but for thousands more this is where the dream ends...

Who remembers the people in the background?

They are as anonymous as wallpaper. They mustn't stand out.

Byron Rogers muses on the life of a Hollywood extra.
